a quote from my family, once a week, every week.
it's time. time to redo the kids' room. they're growing out of their matching little beds and I've asked them what kind of room they'd like and they've picked themes: star wars for max, and pink-ballerina -fairies for rose.
I'm sad that they've outgrown their nursery pastels. not just because all the vintage floral I've loved is being enthusiastically replaced in one sweeping embrace of stereotypical 'boys' and 'girls' paraphernalia (it's a phase, I know), but because it's the end of an era. not just for them, but for me.
but it's been fun planning how to make these themes work together in their tiny shared room. after perusing pinterest, my fave online stores, and local shops I put together an inspiration board. I decided to use white and grey as the unifying shades and add navy, pale pink, silver and gold as the accents.
this week I picked up their new sheets from pottery barn kids. I took the neatly wrapped packs from the huge paper bag and handed them each their sheets: ballerinas for the lady, star wars for the kiddo.
rose held her sheets with a reverence that surprised me. then max chimed in.
lady: mum, it's so lovely. I absolutely love it.
kiddo: I do too!
p.s I have just published 41/52 - 45/52 all in one hit! you may notice that the dates on the posts still reflect the true weeks that I recorded the quotes, not the date I posted them (26/4/15). I decided to date them this way so that one day when I'm looking back, I'll know when they really said them. x
