book week : parading in the '80s

Did your school hold these kind of parades back in the day too?

That's me, dressed up as a book. I think it was 1986.

My dad made the book and my mum accessorised me in matching red boots, gloves, hat and glasses.

The box was a bit unwieldy to walk around in but I thought it was fabulous.

Note the other kids' costumes: Card Hearts from Alice in WonderlandNoddy and the Policeman, Raggedy Andy, Popeye and a Very Hungry Caterpillar. Some things never change ;)

Do you remember your old book week parades? Did your parents help out with costumes or did you get creative yourself? I'd love to hear!

  1. So sute!
We didn't have Book Week but we did have Halloween. My mom is super crafty so I always had amazing costumes. My two favourites were a court jester and a gypsy. I wish I had some photos!

    1. your costumes sound fun! I think the kiddo's book week costume can double for halloween this year too : he wants to be dracula.

    2. Adorable! Nothing says Halloween like a kid in a costume they can barely move or function in! I'll bet that was one of your favorite costumes!
