book love : 9 lovely reading nooks

posted on: Friday, August 2, 2013

One of the wonderful things about reading is the way it can transport little ones to another time and place, but having a sweet space to snuggle up and read in, especially for reluctant readers or tiny ones, can make reading time even more special.

These nine reading nooks (plus one nifty set of shelves) look perfect for curling up with a good book. Which is your fave?

A hanging chair with a menagerie of comfy characters makes for a relaxing reading haven on Home Adore.

A floor to ceiling bookstore-style display on Lonny.com creates an inviting end point in a narrow space.

An ingenious idea for a displaying books in a small space: spice racks turned into bookshelves on Domestic Simplicity.

Polly's amazing patchwork corner by Jane Foster on Apartment Therapy makes a cheerful reading nook.

Providing an orderly space to read and play is this sunny table and chair setup on Ladnebebe.

A sweet and simple canopy and cushions on Systraseidur makes a cosy, crawler-friendly corner for reading with babies or toddlers.

The book wall flanked by chairs in Lexi's sweet room by Lindsey on Pillow Thought creates an inviting place to stop.

Low bookshelves in the playroom created by Lexi on Adella and Co look ideal for easy-access reading. You can find similar (albeit floor-standing) shelves at Pottery Barn Kids.

A simple beanbag can be plopped anywhere for a comfy read. This one is by Anorak on Bambino Goodies.

At the top: A teepee reading corner in the living room of Vivien Weyrauch and Fabian Rƶttgeras as seen on Freunde von Freunden. (I'm ready to move into their apartment right now, isn't it lovely?)

p.s Some more sweet reading rooms.

Have a lovely weekend!

  1. I always think the best place to read is in bed!
Or on holidays on the beach or by the pool!
