We've been uncharacteristically busy these hols. The teenager took his first flight alone interstate (basketball camp. Still obsessed) and the littles have been seeing shows and attending workshops.
I never imagined being this mum; this soccer mum type taking her kids hither and yon and making sure they all have enriching activities.
Once, when the teenager was 5 he played* soccer for a few months and I drove a Volvo but I was nowhere near as close to being 'that mum' as I am now.
* * *Recently the kiddo and his school received some recognition in an art comp for NAIDOC week. The winning artworks were going to be displayed in our local library. So I strolled up with my camera to take a look. Not having seen his entry before I was very curious (and proud).
But I couldn't see anything that looked like what he'd described. I asked the librarian if there were displays elsewhere. No? I must've been mistaken.
I tried to get a little closer to some of the paintings, especially a lovely blue-hued one. And oh hey! It was his.
Can you tell me about this picture? I asked him later.
"Well, the humans are in the water, there are dolphins and Captain Cook's ship and boats are in the distance. And there's a koala doing a burp."
* by 'play' I mean he ran around a little, including off the field and up trees.
