room for baby : autumn skies

posted on: Thursday, June 6, 2013

Do you fancy thinking outside the traditional-nursery-colour-box? That's what Bec from At Penny Lane did when she created this autumnal-hued room for her little guy. Isn't it lovely?

Bec said, "I've found the best way to create a room with a theme that flows well is to find one or two pieces that you love and work from there. I found the ABC art print (top) that I loved, so I drew inspiration from that."

"I was also given a beautiful dresser that was my own as a child and my dad restored it as a gift for my son."

A pom-pom garland handmade by Bec brings the burgundy and orange hues into the cot area.

"I think that decorating should be fun and experimental," Bec explained. "It definitely doesn't need to be too expensive. I like to steer away from anything too matchy-matchy and add unique touches with handmade items and second-hand pieces."

"I wanted to create a room that I could easily adapt over time as he grows up and I love how it turned out. At the moment I'm looking at adding some more pops of colour and finding some lovely new linens for when my little guy moves into a toddler bed in the next few months."
