When Feather and Stone visited us last year they captured a few of the nooks and crannies around our house. Would you like to see?
We live in an old three bedroom terrace in Sydney that is kind of falling apart here and there. There is basically no storage and most of the rooms are small and dark, but it has loads of character and we love it all the same. When we were waiting to see if our rental application would be approved I actually cried because I wanted to live here so much.
In the nursery: there is a funny little alcove above Rose's cot where I've put two framed alphabet prints, the smaller one was a free printout and the larger one is by Draw! Pilgrim and was a pull-out from Frankie Magazine.
In the dining area: the timber dining table was a side-of-the-road Bondi find. I pulled over and hauled it onto my roof racks with the help of a passerby. The dining chairs were $15 AUD each from Vinnies.
Max's bed with a vintage pillow case from the Finder's Keepers Frankie stall. He's still keen on his floral bedding but now that he's started school I think it's just a matter of time before he asks for something that's more stereotypically 'boy'. We'll see.
The dining table benches were originally outdoor seats from Ikea. The bookshelf by the table holds the classics. I am a book nerd and arrange all our books by genre and then alphabetise by author.
What the nursery usually looks like: the kiddos pile of toys below wall decals from Love Mae and We N Ty fabric wallstickers. I have lots of fun with the Love Mae doll sticker and her cute clothes.
Helping Rose with the crayons. We use this table for everything; art, homework, dinner, breakfast, board games, all sorts.
In the tiny space between Max and Rose's beds there is just enough room for one small chair (that used to be mine). My dad painted Max's name and Rose's is a decal from We N Ty. We picked up the seal plushie from The Raisin Did It at their Mathilda's Market stall a few years ago.
Have you posted a tour of your home? Any fave home tours you'd recommend? I'd love to hear!
Part two coming up...

This is awesome! I've never thought about posting a tour of my home, I'd have to get it clean first, but it might be interesting. I've put up a nursery tour, although everything looks so different! your home looks gorgeous, I can understand why you cried about it!
ReplyDeleteit would be interesting! I would love to see. everything was tidied up in our house that day -- except for the toys :)
DeleteI love getting sneak peek's into bloggers homes as I feel as though it reveals so much about them. To be honest, I prefer these sorts of home tours to flipping through spreads in an interiors magazine as these reveal character and warmth. Your home looks lovely and welcoming. I'm currently stalking Gumtree for an old farmhouse table, something with a slightly battered surface to be used for all manner of family activities :)
ReplyDeleteI agree, homes reveal so much about the occupants and it's fascinating getting a peak inside others' abodes. how do they live their life? what possessions do they value? I'm very curious! good luck with your table hunting, I hope the perfect worn piece pops up :)
DeleteYour home looks lovely.
ReplyDeleteI too love getting a peak inside.
I love houses...my mom used to drag us to open inspections all the time even though she never had any intention of moving and in doing so her love of houses has been instilled in me!
that is so funny! my mum used to take me on drives where we would just look at the houses and gardens from the outside. I loved it.
DeleteLove this! Just about to order a new set of love mae stickers for my newest lovely soul.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful home. xx
thanks ashley! have fun with your new set for your new sweetie. love mae have so much gorgeousness, the kiddos also have the swallows in their room.
DeleteYour home looks so cute and cozy! You've done so much with your space. Love the wall decals. I may consider tidying up and doing a home tour.
ReplyDeleteyes! do a home tour and let me know so I can come 'visit' ;)
DeleteWhat a lovely peek into your home! I can feel the love exuding from the pics! Beautiful! xx
ReplyDeleteaww, thanks stacey. the house had a good vibe about it before we moved in, which was part of the attraction I suppose. I think I read somewhere that people make up their minds about a place in the first few seconds of stepping inside. home chemistry perhaps?;)
DeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteHope you don't mind me asking but where is your patchwork change mat in the top photo from, or did you make it?
Thank you :)
hi there, it is a handmade doll quilt! from http://mypoppet.com.au/
DeleteBron would you kindly share how you made the clothesline and pins for the love mae stickers? I have those too and would love to do a similar display for the girls when we get into our new house (when ever we find it!)
ReplyDeletethank you!!! xo
of course :) I used a length of twine and mini wooden clothes pegs (from the sewing store). I blu-tacked the pegs at either end then spaced them along the twine, blu-tacking them in place. after that I stuck the clothes stickers beneath them. good luck with the house hunting, I will have my fingers crossed for you x
