celebrate baby : picnic party

It happened! The lady turned one.

. 

We celebrated with a picnic in the park. There was a little teepee, icy drinks for the grownups, and of course, cake.

At three o'clock in the afternoon, when the hottest part of the day was over, we laid our rugs and blankets in the shade of the old tree and set out the birthday treats. We then spent much of the afternoon protecting them from the crawling babes!

The party planning was a bit rushed because this lady's big day falls between Christmas and New Year. But I had the theme floating around in my head for a few months so it wasn't too hard to gather the supplies together (especially with the help of Pinterest) and we had a really lovely day.
