Dettol organised for myself and four other mama bloggers (the lovely Nicole, Lori, Dani and Lexi)  to get together for some fancy R&R and talk about 'celebrating mums as women' at the Sheraton in Sydney. We visited the spa overlooking Hyde Park, ate a tasty lunch and chatted about everything from hygiene and the kids, to how we take time out for ourselves. Would you like to see?

As you saw in the video I confessed my (ahem) slightly obsessive hand washing tendencies. I have also thoughtfully passed this obsession on to my kids who were more than approving of the samples of Dettol's Touch of Foam hand wash that I brought home. The teen volunteered that 'Rose and Cherry Bloom' smelt like "fruit juice" and the preschooler announced in delight, "It already has bubbles before you even put it in the water!" Indeed. It also feels soft and moisturising on my hands, kills 99.9% of germs and comes in three varients.

The preschooler giving 'Wild Berry Bliss' a whirl after daycare.

I really enjoyed meeting these lovely ladies and having some time out for myself. As I mentioned, ducking up the street to have a quick manicure or a pedicure and catching up on the gossip mags is really one of the only ways I find time for myself at the moment. ( I never did this before I had kids!)

What do you do to take time out for yourself? I'd love to hear!

  1. Sounds like a lovely time! Quick dry nail polish is the only way I manage a pedi these days. Slap, slap and away we go. Time out...a potter through some op shops by myself and a gorgeous coffee or hot chocolate where I don't have to share the froth. Doesn't happen very often but when it does...heaven! Wishing you a gorgeous Thursday

    1. ooh, op shops! yes I need to do more of that. sounds great steph :)

  2. how fun that you got to work with and meet people behind this product. sounds like a good one!

    1. it was lots of fun! hope you and that gorgeous wee wesley are well? I'm guessing time for yourself is not on the agenda just yet ;)

  3. Going for a pedicure is one of special ones. I had one the day after my last chemo. I wasn't feeling well but it was a symbolic treat saying "there, there, Love Let me care for you."
I took the toddler once and she sat through most of it like an angel then suddenly bolted for the big red Wiggles car ride out in the mall and out of sight. Sometimes a cup of tea and a window gaze on the red couch will do me too.
