my favourite and my best : maurice sendak

From the revolutionary Where The Wild Things Are that I read as child, studied at university, and now read to my children, to the preschooler's quirky fave, In the Night Kitchen, we in the baby space place pretty much indulge in a little Maurice magic every day. Yesterday Mr Sendak died. Today I wanted to post that we are all so grateful for what this man has brought to children's literature.

AdiĆ³s Mr Sendak, you have brought our family so much joy.

What is your favourite Maurice memory or favourite book? I'd love to hear!

  1. Oh, that's a good man. I've actually never read In The Night Kitchen, but we all love Where the Wild Things Are, of course! I'll have to get the other one right away...

  2. I am so glad the film came out before he passed away. And I am so glad that the film was done so well. The book, "Where The Wild Things Are" was and still is my favorite and my best.

  3. He illustrated a few that are my favorites: A Hole Is To Dig written by Ruth Krauss. From my childhood I best remember the Little Bear books, by Else Holmelund Minarik. They are such sweet books for children.

  4. I love In the Night Kitchen :) It's so funny and has a great rhythm to it. Actually didn't realise it was by the same person as Where the Wild Things Are.
