room for baby : wee elephant

The chair in baby Brydie's nursery was an heirloom recovered especially for the new space.

A simple and sweet elephant theme runs throughout the completed nursery.

Functional, soft and gender neutral. This nursery was designed while mum, Kari, was pregnant with her first baby, Brydie. Not knowing the sex of the baby, we designed the room to be neutral and had options of traditional boy and girl colours to add to the room once the baby arrived.

who lives here?
Brydie, one-year old in Victoria, Australia.

The starting point of the room was the tree decal, which I hunted and hunted for before finding the perfect one on Etsy. We also used a gorgeous train of elephants which were custom made and a custom 'name' elephant from the Wall Sticker Company. The beautiful elephant prints were designed by Trafalger Square and we had a custom print made by My Sweet Prints (the framed love heart above the chair) which features the song lyrics to Kari and her husband's first dance from their wedding.

Kari already had the nursery furniture, which is by Boori. We added in a lovely white fluffy rug from Freedom Furniture as the room was so big it needed to be grounded. The chair is a family heirloom and was recovered in a neutral material.

I love the tree decals. I know they are incredibly popular now, but these ones are just so simple and sweet!

top tip
When putting together a gender neutral nursery don't go overboard on buying accessories before baby arrives. Whilst it is so tempting to have the room one hundred percent complete, once you know the sex of your baby, you may want to buy gender specific items.
