nie tylko dzieciaki

What better place to display treasured artwork and beloved drawings than in the hall leading to the nursery? Choose quirky frames in a variety of colours and sizes for a mix-n-match approach that's personal and cheerful. Add an extra welcoming touch with a bold red carpet -- and voila! An entrance fit for gorgeous little feet.

one for me please : spaces mook

I am in love. I am beside myself with excitement. I am stick-my-nose-to-the-pages-and-inhale-fresh-printing-smell satisfied. One of my fave mags, Frankie has released a mook (a magazine/book hybrid).

Spaces is full of whimsical, thrifty, artistic homes, rooms, wall displays and studios from around the world. Love, love love. We even get a tour around Frankie creative director Lara Burke's sweet Brisbane dwelling.

And graphic designer Nicky Crowley's (owner of Neck of the Woods) Sydney Bungalow. How adorable is this bunk? Each pictorial has an accompanying article written by various Frankie folk such as current editor Jo Walker and senior contributor Benjamin Law.

A must-have for the Christmas list. Grownups get presents too, right?

Have a lovely weekend everyone!

celebrate baby : party by the pond

Guess who just had a birthday? The Baby Space toddler is now three!

And it just so happened that last week I won this Printable Vintage Kitty Birthday Collection by Free Pretty Things For You from It's Simple Love. Thanks Keren and Rachael!

I chose a blue, red and white colour scheme and took inspiration from this sweet outdoor setting by scissors.paper.cake especially because I knew we'd be in the park. It was lovely to be by the pond and we even saw a shy turtle sunning himself on a rock.

I found the cups, candles, platters and popcorn buckets at a local party store and had already ordered the festive cake bunting by Kiki La Ru and the nostalgic striped straws online from Mon Tresor.

Who can resist lollies (or candy) from their childhood? Not me. We chose Chico babies, Snakes, Strawberries and Cream, Bananas and (not pictured here) Jaffas. I popped them into recycled glass jars and tied twine with a PTFY circle tag or circle sticker (made just by using double sided tape) on each one.

The kids enjoyed running around, playing musical instruments and playing make-believe. Here's the wee man of the hour with his fave girl Sophie (her lovely mama Katie can be read over at Grow.Cook.Sew).

So now he's three. Does this mean I have to start referring to him as the Baby Space preschooler? Surely not.

What about you? Do you have any party planning of your own in store?

Old lace, sun-drenched, patchwork, crochet, floorboards, worn rugs and a teddy to cuddle. That's what little rooms are made of.

fun stuff : pony ride

posted on: Friday, November 5, 2010

This past Tuesday at 3pm most of Australia stopped for Melbourne Cup day. I was in the office and didn't really stop -- how un-Australian of me!

I think I'm more of a slower-paced pony fan. More of a meander-around-the-meadow kind of being. So is the Baby Space toddler. Here he is having his first ever pony ride at the fabulous Addison Road Markets in Marrickville. He happily trotted off without a backward glance.

If you're in the Sydney area you might like to pop down to visit the markets -- they're on every Sunday from around 8:30am-3pm. Or do you have a local pony-ride spot you'd like to recommend? Or do you have your very own pet pony in a paddock?!

Here's to having a lovely weekend everyone!

p.s We have our first Baby Space Christmas Gift Giveaway starting next week -- stay tuned for lots of gorgeous goodies for giving (or keeping!).

Remember the sock monkeys from Funky Monkey? Here the perfect play companion adds a dash of quirky character to an orderly bookshelf corner. Looking for a subtle shelving solution? The Lack from Ikea seems to win every round.

Hang paper globes from the ceiling for an out-of-this-world mobile effect. Can't find the one that you want. Why not try this one from My Poppet?

Who says brown on bunks has to be boring? Team brown linen with bright baby blue for a cosy corner that says cute, chic and practical.

my favourite and my best : mathilda's market

la petite chambre

The Baby Space toddler and I found an hour to sneak off to the always lovely Mathilda's Market in Paddington last Saturday. See that La Petite Chambre drum that he's reaching for? The toddler was in heaven with it. He drummed all the way down Oxford St after we left.

lovely jovely

The venue wasn't as large as last time but the goodies, like these colourful and eclectic Lovely Jovely plushies, were just as delightful!

funky monkey

Who doesn't love a sock monkey?! A classic toy and a great jumping-off point for a nursery theme.

roxy creations

And it was fun to peruse the Christmassy items like the unique hand-embroidered cushions from Roxy Creations.

little snoring

After admiring them online for so long it was a delight to see Little Snoring up close and miniature. The still-life dinner platter and dessert brooches were so sweet and the Little Snoring signature gumball necklace is such a playful statement piece.
