under the sycamoreThere's something kinda cool about a daybed in the kids room. Versatile - yes, aesthetically pleasing - definitely, but there's also an element of sophistication and independence for the kid in question. When I was about 10 years old I read a novel about a girl who rearranged her bedroom to make it seem more grownup; this included turning her bed into a seat to make it more like a lounge room. Of course after I read this I had to try it too. I spread a huge pink sheet over my single bed then lined the pillows up along the wall to make the bed more sofa-like. The effect was not at all like these gorgeous examples above, but rather more like an odd, lumpy, giant pink-wrapped package.

I had a daybed growing up! It was great! I am dying over "under the sycamore" That is just fab.

ReplyDeleteI love these. a LOT. Especially the first, with all the fabrics and colors, and the last eclectic image with that AWESOME lantern. Lovely Bron!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh...the first image!!! AMAZING! I have been researching iron cribs, and it seems that a lot of them can have one side taken off to convert it into a daybed like this. Sold.

ha ha i bet it was a beautiful lumpy package. like when a child gives you a mud pie and you smile at their efforts and thoughts of you. ha ha just teasin! I am sure it wasn't that bad! I remember one of my friends having a day bed growing up, I was always so jealous. You can be so imaginative as a child with a day bed. It makes for an excellent boat.
