room for kids : polkadot play

posted on: Wednesday, July 14, 2010

Arty and eclectic. Mum, Heather, is an art director, stylist and painter. When it comes to her interiors she likes to juxtapose clean lines with worn, vintage pieces and calls it 'simple chaos'.

who lives here?
Kodie 11 and Zana 2, in Brooklyn, USA.

Kodie wanted a floral/jungle theme. Heather gathered a collection of odd shaped cushions and pillows on a brightly spotted spread creating an inviting corner for play and rest. The theme is extended in the fauna print details on the floor and behind the bed head.

The large paper flower on the bedroom wall adds a lovely sense of movement and texture to the space and was made by Heather for one of her shoots.

baby space fave
The miniature stove and tiny utensils - they're in a handy location so while Kodie helps her mum cook, little Zana can make her own creations.

  1. My kid's fave is also that miniature stove! haha. But mine is definitely the bedroom. I love all the patterns in this room! Jungle in technicolor!

  2. I love the polka dots! I am always so inspired by your posts. I wish I could get a little more mod here... but alas I am a little more pottery barn/transitional/shabby/french country. That's a lot of styles. I am on the hunt for new bedding for Stella's room. Think pink & green... HELP!

  3. I love these! I love that eclectic style, keeps it from being overly cutesy! Very hip! XO!
